Some Malibu property owners were reminded Friday that they have just 10 days left to get rid of fire-related debris and must be permitted to do so by the county.
“If your property was impacted by the Palisades Fire and you opted out of the government-sponsored debris removal program, you must complete private debris removal by Monday, June 30,” according to a city statement.
A government-sponsored program to have the Army Corps of Engineers clear debris from properties where structures were destroyed was available to property owners, but they had to opt-in by April 15.
Those who opted out of the removal program or did not submit a form allowing crews to enter their property were required to get approval from Los Angeles County by June 1 and hire a licensed contractor before removing any fire debris, according to the city.
