A hot Labor Day weekend is in store for Riverside County, with temperatures soaring above 100 degrees in many areas, forecasters said Saturday.
The Riverside metropolitan area was predicted to remain just under 100 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, but reach a high of 102 on Labor Day, according to the National Weather Service.
Coachella Valley temperatures will be the highest in the county this weekend, with Coachella reaching a high of 110 through Labor Day. Palm Springs was predicted to be just a few degrees cooler, staying between 107 and 109 through Monday, according to the NWS.
Temecula temperatures are expected to be in the mid-90s Saturday and Sunday. On Labor Day it was expected the area will reach a high of 98. Hemet was expected to see triple-digit temperatures all weekend, reaching a high of 103 by Monday.
Monday and Tuesday are expected to be the warmest days of the week throughout the county, with temperatures cooling off by about 5 to 7 degrees for the following weekend.
“The ridge is going to continue to strengthen and become more amplified over the Great Basin. With this, temperatures will continue to climb through Tuesday, especially within the Inland Empire,” the weather service announced. “At this time, it appears that the ridge will begin to break down towards the end of the week with a gradual cool down and also some increased monsoonal moisture.”
