Comedian Richard Pryor’s widow on Tuesday sued an online clothing company for allegedly selling T-shirts bearing her late husband’s likeness without her permission.
Jennifer Lee Pryor’s Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit alleges violations of the civil code by Fret Shirt, which sells apparel on the Internet at FretShirt.com and other sites. The suit seeks at least $1 million in damages and an injunction against future such sales without permission.
A representative for Fret Shirt could not be immediately reached.
The suit states that the company has sold T-shirts with Pryor’s likeness since last year.
Pryor died in December 2005 at age 65.
