A horde of animated, yellow, pill-shaped heroes dominated the weekend box office, as “Minions” made a nine-figure debut, according to final figures released Monday.

“Minions,” a prequel of sorts to the popular “Despicable Me” films, opened with $115.7 million in North American theaters, according to box office tracker Rentrak.

The film easily dwarfed “Jurassic World,” which held on to second place by earning another $18.2 million. The reboot of the dinosaur adventure film series has earned $590.7 million in its five weeks of release.

Disney’s animated “Inside Out” also continued to attract moviegoers, collecting $17.7 million to push its four-week total to $284.2 million.

Another theatrical reboot, “Terminator Genisys,” earned $13.8 million, while the horror film “Gallows” debuted in fifth place with $9.8 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Magic Mike XXL” ($9.6 million); “Ted 2” ($5.7 million); “Self/Less” ($5.4 million); “Max” ($3.5 million); and “Baahubali (Telugu), ($3.1 million).
