The Ryan Reynolds-Samuel L. Jackson action comedy “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” debuted atop the North American box office over the weekend, knocking a spooky doll from the top spot, according to final figures released Monday.
“The Hitman’s Bodyguard” opened with $21.4 million to dominate theaters, according to box office tracker comScore.
That was good enough to push the horror film “Annabelle: Creation,” which earned $15.6 million, into second place.
The heist film “Logan Lucky” debuted in third place with $7.6 million, followed by director Christopher Nolan’s epic “Dunkirk” with $6.6 million and the animated “Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature” with $5.1 million.
Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “The Emoji Movie” ($4.4 million); “Spider-Man: Homecoming” ($4.3 million); “Girls Trip” ($3.9 million); “The Dark Tower” ($3.8 million); and “Wind River” ($3 million).
