The car then struck the east curb of Cherry Avenue and struck a tree. Officers were dispatched to the crash scene, in the area of Cherry Avenue and 45th Street, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Paramedics dispatched to the location pronounced the motorist, the lone occupant inside the car, dead at the scene.

It was not immediately known if distracted or impaired driving were factors in the crash.
