Pixar’s Golden Globe-winning “Soul” was a seven-time winner at Friday evening’s 48th annual Annie Awards including for best feature.
“Soul” also won best FX, best character animation, best music, best storyboarding, best writing and best editorial, all in the feature category.
“Wolfwalkers” won best indie feature and four other awards in the feature category — best character design, best direction, best production design and best voice acting.
During the ceremony, ASIFA-Hollywood presented Winsor McCay Awards for lifetime animation achievement to Willie Ito, the late Sue Nichols and Bruce Smith.
The June Foray Award for “significant and benevolent or charitable impact on the art and industry of animation” was presented to animator and art director, Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi.
The Ub Iwerks Award for technical advancement was presented to Epic Games for its “Unreal Engine,” and a Special Achievement Award was presented to “Howard,” a documentary the late lyricist and storyteller Howard Ashman.
The ceremony was conducted in a streaming format. Presenters included Josh Gad, Matthew Rhys, Philippa Soo, Eva Whittaker and Patrick Warburton.
