A lawsuit for false advertising brought by two movie fans alleging that Universal Pictures duped them into renting the 2019 film “Yesterday” by featuring actress Ana de Armas in the trailer — but not in the full movie — has been dismissed, according to court papers obtained Tuesday.

Peter Rosza, 46, of San Diego, and Conor Woulfe, 40, of Maryland, alleged they each paid $3.99 to rent the musical romantic comedy on Amazon Prime, only to discover that de Armas’ scenes ended up on the cutting room floor.

The proposed class-action suit filed two years ago accused Universal of engaging in deceptive marketing, and sought at least $5 million on behalf of affected consumers.

A notice filed in Los Angeles federal court last week states that a settlement had been reached and the parties would each pay their own costs and attorneys’ fees. On Monday, U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson ordered the lawsuit permanently dismissed.

No other information was immediately available.

The suit argued that the trailer for “Yesterday” led fans to expect a full movie with de Armas, “but did not receive a movie with any appearance of Ana de Armas at all.”

As a result, “consumers were not provided with any value for their rental or purchase,” Rosza and Woulfe stated in court papers.

“Yesterday” is the story of a struggling musician who through a supernatural occurrence suddenly finds himself the only person who has ever heard of The Beatles and becomes famous after reintroducing their songs to the world. It gets its title from the 1965 Beatles song of the same name.

Havana, Cuba-born de Armas, 35, was originally cast to appear in the flick. Although she appeared in the trailer and certain advertising, she was dropped from the finished film, according to the suit.
