Jacqueline Falk, the 60-year-old daughter of late actor Peter Falk, was found dead at a Los Angeles residence and her death was ruled a suicide, authorities reported.

Falk died by hanging, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.

She was one of two daughters adopted by Peter Falk and his first wife, Alyce Mayo.

Her father, an Emmy Award-winning actor, was best known for his role as Lt. Columbo in the long-running television series “Columbo.” The series originally aired on NBC until 1978, before being revived on ABC from 1989 to 2003.

He also appeared in films including “The Princess Bride,” “The Great Race” and “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.”

Jacqueline Falk largely remained out of the public eye, maintaining a private life despite her father’s prominence in the entertainment industry.

Her sister, Catherine Falk, later became an advocate for family visitation rights, speaking publicly about her experiences during their father’s final years and supporting legislation aimed at protecting communication between conservatees and their families.

Peter Falk had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease prior to his death. He died in 2011 at age 83.
