SAG-AFTRA Thursday announced the launch of a new podcast series, “I Am An Actor,” hosted by showrunner Jon Brockett and actor Jamie Chung, with episodes set to debut next month.
The podcast will premiere May 7 on major platforms including YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, with new episodes released weekly on Thursdays, according to the union.
The series expands the union’s Actor Awards tradition into a long-form interview format, featuring one-on-one conversations with performers about their careers and craft.
Officials said each episode, running about 40 to 60 minutes, will begin with guests sharing their personal “I Am An Actor” story, followed by discussions about their early work, breakthrough roles and current projects.
Guests for the debut season are expected to include Quinta Brunson, Sofia Carson, Sherry Cola, Colman Domingo, Phil Dunster, Tony Hale, Mariska Hargitay, Justin Hartley, Kate Hudson, Michael Peña and Kerry Washington, among others.
“I’ve spent 20 years in a room full of actors and this is my chance to finally get them to talk to me,” Brockett said in a statement.
Chung said the podcast offers a chance for candid conversations about acting.
“I’ve admired so many of these performers for years. Getting to sit down with them to dive deeper into the craft, the moment they fell in love with it and what keeps them going is the part of this job I could do forever,” Chung said.
The series is produced in partnership with SickBird Productions.
SAG-AFTRA represents about 160,000 media and entertainment professionals nationwide.
