A Nogales High School water polo player was hospitalized after being pulled from the bottom of a pool during a playoff game in Chino Thursday.

Alejandro Camacho, 16, suffered a seizure, coach Marco Garcia told ABC7.

The Nogales players noticed a player missing when they lined up in the middle of the pool following a stoppage in play two minutes into the third quarter of a Southern Section Division 7 first-round playoff game at Don Antonio Lugo High School, according to ABC7.

Camacho was pulled from the water by his father and several other spectators about 5:40 p.m., ABC7 reported.

Paramedics from the Chino Valley Independent Fire District performed advanced life support on Camacho, Battalion Chief Scott Atkinson told ABC7.

Camacho was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where he was to remain overnight, KCAL9 reported.

The team posted on its Twitter account that Camacho “is fine and in stable condition.”

Garcia told NBC4 Camacho had previously suffered a seizure during practice.

Camacho is expected to make a full recovery, according to KCAL9.

Nogales lost the game, 17-12.
