Firefighters took just over 30 minutes Friday morning to extinguish a blaze in a building under construction in Boyle Heights.

Crews were called to the 900 block of Breed Street about 4:30 a.m. and discovered the building well involved in fire, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Firefighters also dealt with an electrical hazard with wires down and arcing on one side of the structure, she said.

Crews kept the flames from spreading to two homes behind the building, said Stewart.

A knockdown was declared just after 5 a.m.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
