Five neighborhoods in the westside and South Los Angeles experienced power outages Friday, affecting about 4,000 customers.
Department of Water and Power customers in Vermont Square, Harvard Park, Cheviot Hills, Sawtelle and Pico-Robertson lost power Friday morning, according to the DWP’s Albert Rodriguez. He said all customers had power restored by 1 p.m., except for 497 customers in Cheviot Hills. Power was expected to return to those customers by 7 p.m.
Rodriguez did not want to speculate about what caused the outages, but did say that DWP has “the capacity to provide to everyone” even as unprecedented numbers of Angelenos work from home.
“It’s almost a wash because if they’re coming into big office buildings, they’re probably using as much energy,” Rodriguez said.
