Two children were airlifted to safety Saturday from a river that flows into the Morris Dam Reservoir, about five miles north of Azusa.
The first call, at 4:21 p.m., was a search for two missing children at the dam, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett.
The helicopter located what Picket described as “small children” about 5 p.m. and plucked one from waist-deep water, he said. The other child was near the water.
It did not appear that the children were injured, he said. “They were both OK.”
The age and gender of the children and whether they were related was not available.
