A FedEx plane made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday morning because of a mechanical issue, and one of the two pilots aboard was injured while getting off the aircraft.
L.A. City firefighters responded to the airport about 3:50 a.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
One of the pilots was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening leg injury he sustained while exiting the aircraft, Stewart said.
The plane, a Boeing 767-300, was able to land safely and emergency crews were evaluating the aircraft, according to Los Angeles World Airports.
ABC7 showed video of sparks coming from the plane’s landing gear as it rolled along a runway.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation due to damage sustained by the plane, Stewart said.
