A three-alarm fire damaged about 50 units of a Gardena storage facility Monday afternoon, but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters were dispatched at 1:42 p.m. to the two-story storage facility in the 200 block of East Alondra Boulevard, near South Main Street, according to Franklin Lopez of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which had crews on scene by 1:45 p.m.
Within 15 minutes, the one-unit fire had spread to multiple units on the second floor, Lopez said. A second-alarm response was requested shortly after 2 p.m., followed by a third-alarm response about 2:45 p.m.
More than100 firefighters battled the blaze, which was extinguished at 4:05 p.m., the department reported. Crews were expected to remain at the scene into the evening to prevent flare-ups.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
