The children’s film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” opened with $71 million this weekend to lead all films in North America, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

The sequel to 2020’s hit, which once again features Jim Carrey and is based on a video game franchise, beat out last weekend’s top-grossing film, “Morbius,” which took in $10.2 million Friday through Sunday in its second week at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.

“The Lost City” was third with $9.1 million in its third weekend in theaters.

Fourth place went to director Michael Bay’s action film “Ambulance,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which opened with $8.7 million.

“The Batman” was fifth with $6.5 million, bringing its six-week domestic total to $359 million.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “Everything Everywhere All at Once” ($6 million), “Uncharted” ($2.6 million), “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” ($825,000), “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ($625,000)” and “RRR” ($570,000).
