The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Tuesday for the sixth consecutive day, increasing a half-cent to $5.827, after rising two-tenths of a cent each of the previous two days.
The average price has risen 5.3 cents over the past six days following a run of 28 decreases in 30 days totaling 29.6 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.6 cents more than one week ago and $1.736 higher than one year ago but 16 cents less than one month ago.
The Orange County average price resumed increasing, rising 1 cent to $5.777, one day after a four-day streak of increases totaling 6.3 cents ended with a decrease of seven-tenths of a cent. It is 6.3 cents more than one week ago and $1.714 higher than one year ago but 16.1 cents less than one month ago.
“As long as the supply remains tight, it will be hard for crude oil prices to fall and consumers will in turn face higher prices at the pump,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager.
