A man who was injured during a collision between his car and a street sweeper in 2018 in Hacienda Heights has reached a tentative $1 million settlement of his lawsuit against Los Angeles County.

The accord in the case brought by plaintiff Jeong J. Cha is subject to approval by the county Claims Board and the Board of Supervisors.

According to his suit filed in January 2020, Cha was driving a Toyota southbound on Hacienda Boulevard on Jan. 18, 2018, near Glenmark Drive. Enrique Lozano, at the wheel of a county street sweeper and also driving in the same direction on the same street, tried to make a U-turn directly in the path of Cha, causing Cha’s car to strike the sweeper, the suit stated.

Cha suffered severe, costly physical injuries that required medical care, and he also lost wages and the ability to work, the suit states.
