Several miles of streets in South Los Angeles were closed to vehicles Sunday for the year’s eighth and final CicLAvia event.
CicLAvia-South LA was scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The six-mile route begins at the Leimert Park Hub on 4330 Crenshaw Blvd., and runs east to Central Avenue and Washington Boulevard.
The street festivals are designed by city officials to encourage residents to explore what different neighborhoods have to offer on foot or via other non-motorized modes of transport.
Motorized vehicles are forbidden, but bicyclists, walkers, runners and skaters are welcome, and the route includes five hubs of other recreational activities.
CicLAvia-South LA is the sixth full-scale CicLAvia of 2023. Two CicLAmini events were held in Watts and North Hollywood, featuring smaller routes.
