County authorities Saturday identified a man who was killed with a woman in a fiery, two-vehicle crash on the Santa Monica (405) Freeway near Culver City.
Clifton Gore, Jr. 74, was identified as the man who died in the crash, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded at 2:13 a.m. Thursday to the northbound freeway and National Boulevard where they learned a Toyota Prius and a commercial truck collided, causing the Prius and the truck to burst into flames, CHP Officer Erik Larsen told City News Service.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were called and pronounced Gore dead at the scene, Larsen said.
A woman who was also killed in the crash with Gore has not yet been identified.
The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes of the freeway for several hours while they investigated the cause of the collision.
