The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Saturday for the 18th time in 19 days, decreasing 3.6 cents to $5.926, its lowest amount since April 22.

The average price has fallen 28.8 cents over the past 19 days, including 3.5 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 15.4 cents less than one week ago and 31.5 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.222 more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 23rd time in 24 days, decreasing 4.4 cents to $5.808, its lowest amount since April 23. It has dropped 38.4 cents over the past 24 days, including 3.9 cents Friday.

The Orange County average price is 18.7 cents less than one week ago and 40.9 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.19 more than one year ago.

“Oil prices continue trading below $100 a barrel, which has helped push down gas prices locally and nationwide,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.

“However, gas prices are likely to remain volatile and well above last year’s levels as long as the Middle East conflict remains unresolved,” she added.

The national average price dropped for the 16th consecutive day, falling 2.9 cents to $4.191, its lowest amount since April 28. It has dropped 37.3 cents over the past 16 days, including 2.1 cents Friday.

The national average price is 16.5 cents less than one week ago and 34.5 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.05 more than one year ago.
