A 16-year-old bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run collision apparently sparked by a road rage incident in Exposition Park was identified Monday.

Jonathan Flores was killed in the collision, according to the county medical examiner.

The teen was struck at 3939 S. Figueroa St. near BMO Stadium and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at 4:36 p.m. Friday, California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

Some cyclists riding south of Figueroa were involved in a verbal altercation with the driver of a blue BMW, who followed the crew into a parking lot. While turning into the lot, the victim was struck by a separate black Honda sedan, according to the CHP.

On Saturday, CHP detectives served a search warrant at a residence in Los Angeles and a 28-year-old man was identified as the driver of the Honda. The two cars were also seized as evidence, according to the CHP.

Further description of the suspect was unavailable at the time and the investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the crash was asked to contact CHP detectives at 323-644-9550 during normal business hours or the Los Angeles Communication Center at 323-259-3200 after hours.
