The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Aug. 12, 2021, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.384.

The average price has dropped 12 of the past 13 days, decreasing 6.8 cents, including six-tenths of a cent both Wednesday and Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six-tenths of a cent Dec. 1, was unchanged Dec. 2 and resumed decreasing Dec. 3.

The average price is 3.8 cents less than one week ago, 10.5 cents lower than one month ago and 41.7 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.11 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped to its lowest amount since July 15, 2021, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.309. It has also dropped 12 of the past 13 days, decreasing 6.3 cents, including six-tenths of a cent Thursday.

The Orange County average price dropped a half-cent Dec. 1, rose four-tenths of a cent Dec. 2 and resumed decreasing Dec. 3. It is 2.9 cents less than one week ago, 8.6 cents lower than one month ago and 31.4 cents below what it was one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $2.15 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that higher inventories of gasoline in Southern California are continuing to put downward pressure on prices,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“A couple of Southern California gas stations are now posting pump prices under $3.50 for regular unleaded.”

The national average price was unchanged, remaining at $3.026 after back-to-back increases totaling 1.5 cents. It is unchanged from one week ago, 5.8 cents less than one month ago and 9.5 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.99 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
