The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was at its lowest amount to begin a year since 2021 Wednesday, $4.413, a year after being at its highest amount to begin a year, $4.76.
The average price dropped to its lowest amount since July 28, 2021, $4.362, on Dec. 19, but has risen 10 times in 13 days since then, increasing 5.1 cents, including one-tenth of a cent Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 3.3 cents less than one month ago and 34.7 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $2.081 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price was also at its lowest amount to begin a year since 2021, $4.343, a year after being at its highest amount to begin a year, $4.658. It dropped to its lowest amount since July 5, 2021, $4.285, on Dec. 19, but has risen eight of the past 13 days since then, increasing 6.2 cents.
The Orange County average price increased a half-cent Wednesday and is a half-cent more than one week ago but 2.4 cents less than one month ago and 31.5 cents below what is was one year ago. It has dropped $2.116 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price rose 1.9 cents to $3.062, its third consecutive increase following a streak of three consecutive decreases totaling 1.7 cents. The national average price rose one-tenth of a cent Monday and 1.7 cents Tuesday.
The national average price is 2.2 cents more than one week ago and 1.1 cents higher than one month ago but 4.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.954 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
