A family-operated ranch has donated $50 million — the largest gift in Providence Mission Hospital Foundation history — to support the expansion of the hospital’s Mission Viejo campus, officials announced Monday.

The donation came from Rancho Mission Viejo, which has a longstanding relationship with the hospital and originally donated the land where it now stands.

“We are truly humbled by the generosity of the Rancho Mission Viejo family and the $50 million investment they have made toward the future of health care for the residents in Orange County and beyond,” Seth Teigen, chief executive of Providence Mission Hospital, said in a statement.

The money will be used to help pay for a new Rancho Mission Viejo Family Tower, which will include 100 private patient rooms, a state-of-the-art cardiology department, new operating and procedural suites, expanded radiology and lab services, and enhanced emergency and trauma care, officials said.

`There is nothing more important than the health of our community and our families,” said Anthony R. Moiso, chairman and CEO, Rancho Mission Viejo. “Mission treats its patients as family, as we treat our employees at The Ranch.”

The funds will also help the hospital invest in noninvasive treatment technologies, specialist recruitment and expanded outpatient services in Rancho Mission Viejo and San Clemente, officials said.

Rancho Mission Viejo, one of the last working ranches in Orange County, has been owned by the O’Neill/Moiso/Avery family since 1882.
