Live music, classic cars and a Fleet Week-themed 5K run will take over the Santa Monica Pier Thursday during the spring season finale of “Locals’ Night.”
The free event will run from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and also marks the kickoff of Pacific Park’s 30th anniversary celebration, including a Ferris wheel lighting tribute reading “Thank You Santa Monica” and the grand opening of Sweet Rose Creamery at 6 p.m., according to organizers.
“Some nights on the Santa Monica Pier just feel like summer,” organizers said in a statement announcing the event.
The Rick Crocker 5K Run, presented by Santa Monica PAL and honoring Fleet Week participants, is scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. along Ocean Front Walk and the pier.
A classic car show and DJ set will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Pier Deck.
Live music performances on the Pier Deck will include LGNDZ from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., Lesley Kernochan from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Raquel Rodriguez from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the Tom Nolan Band from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Additional events include “Books & Cookies Musical Storytime” at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the Merry Go-Round Building and “The Soul of Santa Monica: Voices of the Pico Neighborhood at the Pier” storytelling event from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Organizers said the evening will also recognize the 100th anniversary of Route 66, the historic highway ending at the Santa Monica Pier.
