A possible mountain lion sighting disrupted a Santa Monica neighborhood Friday as police closed off some areas and urged residents to remain indoors while a search was conducted.
Santa Monica police responded around 10 a.m. to the area of 14th Street and Montana Avenue on a report of a possible mountain lion.
“Out of an abundance of caution, officers are in the area assessing the report and working with appropriate wildlife resources,” police said in a statement on social media. “At this time, there are no reported injuries. Community members in the area are encouraged to remain indoors, and avoid approaching or attempting to photograph the animal if it is seen.”
Residents were urged to call 911 if they spot the lion.
