Palisades Village, the shopping and dining center that closed following the January 2025 Palisades Fire, will reopen to the public next month after more than $100 million in renovations and remediation work.
Owner Rick Caruso revealed the reopening date in an Instagram post Wednesday, writing, “I’m so excited to share the news: Palisades Village is officially reopening to the public on the morning of August 15th.”
The outdoor shopping center survived the wildfire that devastated the coastal community, destroying thousands of homes and other structures throughout Pacific Palisades, but required extensive repairs and environmental remediation to remove contaminants left behind by smoke, ash and debris from the fire.
Crews spent months restoring the center, stripping buildings to their frames, treating wood and rebuilding walls and interiors to prepare stores and restaurants for reopening.
“Everybody’s working, and stores are moving their products in,” Caruso told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s a really cool feeling that people have really locked arms and are working together.”
The retail and dining center, which opened in 2018, is now 99% leased, according to Caruso. Most former tenants are returning, while nearly one-third of the businesses will be new to the property.
“Longtime local stores like Loomey’s Toy Store and K Bakery will reopen with us alongside favorites Elyse Walker and Angelini,” Caruso wrote in his social media post.
“It is a testament to the resilience and spirit of this community,” he added.
Fashion designer Elyse Walker previously announced plans to reopen her namesake store at the center after her longtime flagship location on Antioch Street was destroyed in the fire.
Toy store owner Amanda Rastegar, whose Loomey’s Toys store was also lost in the wildfire, told The Times she was eager to return.
“It’s been a journey and I’m excited because I wasn’t sure that there was going to be a place to come back to,” she said.
Chef Gino Angelini also plans to reopen Angelini Ristorante & Bar at the center next month, although he said the restaurant would return quietly out of respect for residents still recovering from the disaster.
New tenants at the center will include chef Nancy Silverton’s Italian steakhouse Spacca Tutto and activewear retailer LESET’s first West Coast location.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said the fire destroyed 6,822 structures, including more than 5,500 homes and about 100 commercial buildings.
Caruso previously credited the survival of Palisades Village to the work of private firefighters and the fire-resistant materials used in the center’s construction.
He expressed optimism that the reopening of Palisades Village would help accelerate the broader recovery of Pacific Palisades by restoring one of the community’s commercial and social gathering places.
“We can’t wait to celebrate with you,” Caruso wrote Wednesday. “Come see us on August 15th!”
