A 41-year-old man who died when his big rig overturned on eastbound Interstate 10 in the community of Hayfield near Chiriaco Summit was identified Monday.
Marco Rodriguez Lopez of Los Angeles was fatally injured at about 7:30 a.m. Friday west of Red Cloud Mine Road.
A green Freightliner tractor hauling a trailer drove into the median, causing the big rig to overturn and land on its left side, according to the California Highway Patrol. It was unclear how fast the semi was going.
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
