An SUV crashed into a single-family home in Santa Ana Saturday and fire crews were working to remove the vehicle without causing the roof to collapse, police said.

Around 3:45 p.m., a Chevy Trailblazer driven by a 25-year-old male was heading northbound near the 1400 block of north Euclid Street, Corporal Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department said.

The driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, either feel asleep at the wheel or had some medical issue before losing control of the wheel and crashing into the house’s living room, Bertagna said.

Firefighters had to pull the unidentified male from the vehicle and was hospitalized after complaining of pain, the corporal said.

He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Bertagna said.

One person was home at the time of the crash but was not injured, he said.

Firefighters quickly put out some flames that spread from the SUV’s engine to the home, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said.

A fire authority task force was called to the scene to help build structural support because the roof likely would collapse if the car was towed away, Kurtz said.
