A motorist who fatally struck a good Samaritan and the motorcycle wreck victim he was trying to help was behind bars in Orange County Monday.
Jesus Mendoza-Hernandez was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the death of 24-year-old Dayton Hudson of Santa Ana.
Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, Santa Ana police were sent to 2100 S. Ritchey Street on a report of motorcycle wreck and, while a witness to the wreck was talking to a dispatcher, both he and the motorcycle rider were struck by Mendoza-Hernandez’s vehicle.
Hudson was declared dead at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana about 7″50 p.m. Sunday. An autopsy is pending.
The name of the survivor was unavailable.
California Highway Patrol officers are in charge of the death investigation, and Santa Ana police will investigate the allegedly intoxicated driver who ran into Hudson and the other man.
