A 73-year-old man died following a fiery crash involving a car, an SUV, a pickup truck and a motorcycle in Huntington Beach, authorities said Saturday.
He was later identified as Stanton resident Kim Xuan Vo, according to the Coroner’s Office.
Several other people suffered minor injuries in the 10:50 a.m. Friday crash at Edwards Street and Mar Vista Drive, on the Huntington Beach- Westminster border, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.
The most seriously injured patient was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange in critical condition, Concialdi said, noting that firefighters had to cut the senior citizen out of his overturned car, which caught fire.
The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries and was taken to UCI, as well, Concialdi said. Two females in another vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital in Huntington Beach for treatment, he said.
The motorcyclist, who suffered minor injures, declined medical attention, Concialdi said.
Vo’s vehicle crashed into the pickup truck and SUV at a red light in the southbound lanes of Edwards at Mar Vista, according to Huntington Beach police Officer Jennifer Marlatt. It was not immediately known why the driver did not yield.
Paramedics rushed Vo to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m. Friday, according to the Coroner’s Office.
The truck was pushed into the motorcycle, Marlatt said. Flying debris from the crash struck another car, but no one was injured in that vehicle, Marlatt said.
