A short pursuit Wednesday led Anaheim police to a stabbing victim, who was later pronounced dead.

An Anaheim officer on patrol spotted a motorist driving erratically near Loara Street and Broadway about 8:40 a.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle, Anaheim police Lt. Eric Trapp said. The driver — a woman who was trying to get the victim to a hospital — did not pull over until Loara and Lincoln Avenue, he added.

When the driver pulled over, the officer noticed the stabbing victim in the passenger seat. Paramedics took the man, who was 26, to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange where he was pronounced dead, Trapp said.

Investigators know the victim’s identity but were withholding it as they worked to notify his family first, Trapp said. It was unclear what relationship the victim had with the driver, Trapp said.

The investigation led police back to a home in the 1500 block of Edithia Avenue, where the residents were taken to police headquarters for questioning, Trapp said. Detectives suspect the stabbing occurred at the residence, Trapp added.
