Police sought a man accused of sexually assaulting and stabbing his estranged wife early Wednesday in Santa Ana.
Javier Luis Cervantes stole the victim’s 2013 silver Ford Edge — with a license plate of 6WPY897 — and fled after attacking the woman about 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of Parton Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna alleged.
The victim was hospitalized, but her injuries were not considered life- threatening, Bertagna said.
The woman got home early Wednesday with her two children, who are 6 and 7, and put them to bed, Bertagna said. As she left their room, Cervantes allegedly sexually assaulted her before stabbing her multiple times, Bertagna said.
The woman managed to get away and call police, Bertagna said.
