A retired Sycamore Junior High School drama teacher was arrested on suspicion of molesting two former male students, who are now adults, an Anaheim police sergeant said Wednesday.
David Bruce, 65, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of child molestation and possession of child pornography and was released from the Anaheim jail after posting $100,000 bail, according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt.
As of midday, no criminal charges had been filed against Bruce.
An investigation was triggered when someone “brought concerns forward” to Anaheim Unified High School District officials, who notified police, Wyatt said.
Detectives within the past month tracked down two alleged victims, who claim they were molested while Sycamore students, Wyatt said. Investigators at this stage of the case do not want to be more specific about when the alleged molestations occurred, he said.
Bruce taught drama at the junior high school from October 1981 until he retired in 2010, but continued working as a substitute teacher through 2013, Wyatt said.
Investigators are concerned there may be more alleged victims, Wyatt said. Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at (714) 765-1972. Anonymous tips may be made to Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
