A bomb squad was sent Wednesday to Orange Police Department headquarters after a telephoned threat was received, authorities said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was contacted shortly before 6 a.m. by Orange Police, who said a bomb threat had been made, said Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Mark Stichter.

The bomb squad was sent to the police station at 1107 N. Batavia St. to conduct an investigation, Stichter said. Some evacuations were ordered, and shortly after 7 a.m. the area was declared safe and people were allowed back in the building, police said.

There were no further details about the type of bomb threat nor who may have made the threat.
