It could take several more weeks to be sure, but a 20-year-old man who was pulled out of the ocean in Huntington Beach this week likely drowned, according to officials.

Orange County Sheriff-Coroner officials are awaiting toxicological tests before establishing an official cause of death for Andy Guevara of South Gate. His death does not appear to be suspicious at this time, Orange County sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Hallock said.

A vehicle registered to Guevara was found in the parking lot of the state beach in Huntington Beach, said Kevin Pearsall of the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

A surfer pulled Guevara’s body out of the water Tuesday.

Police were notified at 11:20 a.m. about the discovery of the body near Pacific Coast Highway and Seapoint, according to Huntington Beach police Officer Jennifer Marlatt.

“He had been in the water for some time,” Marlatt said.

The victim was nude and there were no outward signs of trauma to consider his death suspicious, Marlatt said.
