There were some tense moments Sunday at a Garden Grove Walmart after it was reported a man with a gun might be inside, authorities said.
Officers responded at 5:46 p.m. to the store at 11822 Gilbert St. on a report of a man with a gun, Garden Grove police Lt. Jeff Nightengale said. There were conflicting reports about whether the man with the gun was inside or outside of the store.

Officers found “customers and employees running from the business, so they quickly established a perimeter and started gathering information about what was actually occurring inside of the business,” Nightengale said.
Officers learned two males got into a verbal confrontation in the parking lot and one may have had a firearm but officers could not confirm the presence of a firearm, he said. The victim and suspect entered the store at different times.
Someone told an employee there was a suspect with a gun so employees decided to evacuate the store and call police, Nightengale said. Some employees sheltered inside the store.
Officers searched inside and outside the store, escorting out any remaining employees and they could not locate the suspect, he said.
Police ask anyone who saw the incident to call them at (714) 741-5704.
