
A pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by a fire hydrant that was sheered off by a vehicle in Newport Beach.
The crash was reported Thursday evening in the 500 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a fire hydrant, which hit the woman.
She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
