A man was shot and killed Wednesday morning in Santa Ana and another man was wounded nearby, prompting authorities to investigate a possible connection between the attacks.
The fatal shooting was reported around 1:40 a.m. in the area of 17th Street and Spurgeon streets, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. The victim in that shooting suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
Another man showed up at an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injuries, having been shot in the area of Washington Avenue and French Street.
Authorities were working to determine the time of this shooting but did not immediately identify any links between the two shootings.
