Three gang members on parole or probation were arrested in Placentia on burglary and drug charges, police said Thursday.
Officers received multiple calls from residents around 10:35 a.m. Tuesday about a suspect peeping into a window of a residence in the 1000 block of Lawanda Place and from a location in the 100 block of Islandia Drive, said Placentia Police Sgt. Chris Anderson.
In one instance, a resident confronted the suspect, who gave the excuse that he was looking for his dog, Anderson said. The suspect then immediately left the area in a maroon SUV.
Officers located a maroon Chevrolet Trailblazer and eventually stopped the vehicle near Placentia Avenue and Nutwood Street, Anderson said.
The vehicle was found to be occupied by three men, one of whom was lying down in the back, and all were confirmed to be gang members on parole or probation, according to Anderson.
A search of the vehicle turned up cocaine, a black replica handgun, pepper spray, a ski mask, gloves, a window punch, pawn slips, and fake construction uniforms, Anderson said.
All three men gave conflicting statements as to why they were in Placentia and were subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and burglary tools, and conspiracy to commit residential burglary.
The men were identified by police as 19-year-old Billie Ray Lothridge of Inglewood, 27-year-old Trayvon Deshawn White of Lakewood, and 26-year-old Reginald Van Oliver II of Los Angeles.
