A ruptured city water line led to a landslide and flooding in the Irvine Terrace area of Newport Beach Tuesday.
The water line break occurred about 4:30 a.m., and city workers were on scene within 15 minutes to stem the tide, said city spokeswoman Tara Finnigan.
Some residents in the Irvine Terrace neighborhood went without water while the pipe was fixed, Finnigan said.
Water and mud flowed down the hillside, leaving a foot of mud in some places on Bayside Drive, Finnigan said. Workers filled about 10 dump trucks with mud, she said.
