The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was at its lowest amount on Thanksgiving since 2016 despite rising a half-cent Thursday to $3.153.
The average price is six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 2.5 cents less than one month ago and 72.8 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 46.2 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose 1 cent to $3.124, its lowest amount on Thanksgiving since 2016. It is 1.2 cents more than one week ago but 1.4 cents less than one month ago and 69.6 cents lower than one year ago. The Orange County average price has decreased 42.1 cents since the start of the year.
The sharp decreases to the Los Angeles and Orange county average prices in the early months of the coronavirus pandemic because of reduced demand is the reason they are at their lowest amount on Thanksgiving since 2016.
