The Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Department Friday asked the public to donate toys and gift cards as part of their seasonal holiday toy drive for local children.

Donation bins for the toy drive will be found throughout the city from Thursday, Dec. 2 until Monday, Dec. 13. The bins can be found at Palm Springs City Hall, Demuth Community Center, Palm Springs Leisure Center, James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center and the Palm Springs Public Library, according to officials.

Donated toys and gift cards will be given to local children at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center on Friday, Dec. 17 and at the Breakfast with Santa community event on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Palm Springs Pavilion. Both events are free to the public, officials said.

“What a great opportunity for our community to provide local children with a present for the holidays” said Jeannie Kays, interim director of Parks and Recreation. “Giving and spreading joy is what the season is all about.”
