The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose three-tenths of a cent Thursday to $5.531, one day after recording its largest increase since Oct. 4, seven-tenths of a cent.

The back-to-back increases follow a run of 33 decreases in 34 days totaling 97.3 cents, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The average price is seven-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 87 cents lower than one month ago, but 93.3 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price rose by its largest amount since Oct. 5, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $5.429, one day after rising eight-tenths of a cent. It is 1.5 more than one week ago and 87.3 cents higher than one year ago but 89.1 cents less than one month ago.

The national average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.803, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent. It is 2.5 cents more than one week ago and 38.6 cents higher than one year ago but 11.6 cents less than one month ago and $1.213 lower than the record of $5.016 set June 14.
