The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County increased three-tenths of a cent Saturday to $4.648, ending a streak of 17 consecutive decreases that dropped it to its lowest amount since Feb. 8.
The average price dropped 16.1 cents over the past 17 days, including 1.2 cents Friday, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 17.6 cents less than one month ago and 17.9 cents less than one year ago. The average price has dropped $1.845 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose four-tenths of a cent to $4.562, after a run of 17 decreases in 18 days that brought it to its lowest amount since Feb. 6.
The Orange County average price is 4.5 cents less than one week ago, 20 cents less than one month ago and 14.4 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.896 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Oil Price Information Service and the Energy Information Administration continue to report high refinery utilization rates on the West Coast, indicating that they are maximizing production of gasoline and other fuels,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.
“The latest price reductions have brought pump prices within about 30 cents of their lowest level of 2025, which was at the start of the year.”
The national average price inched up one-tenth of a cent to $3.133, its fourth consecutive slight increase after a five-day streak of decreases totaling 2.2 cents. The national average price is two-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, but 4.7 cents less than one month ago and 32.6 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.883 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
