The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged Sunday at $6.213.
The average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago, but 26.1 cents more than one month ago and $1.389 more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen $1.519 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, moving within 28.1 cents of the record $6.494 set Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price increased one-tenth of a cent to $6.176. It is 1.3 cents less than one week ago, but 30.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.421 more than one year ago. The Orange County average price has risen $1.54 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, moving within 28.3 cents of the record $6.459 set Oct. 5, 2022.
“As the conflict in Iran continues, we are seeing ongoing volatility in global oil markets, contributing to fluctuations in gasoline prices at the pump,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday. “In addition, demand typically increases as we head into the summer driving season.”
The national average price dropped four-tenths of a cent to $4.513. It is nine-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, but 43.7 cents more than one month ago and $1.328 more than one year ago. The national average price has risen $1.531 since the attack on Iran, moving within 50.3 cents of the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
