The number of coronavirus patients in Riverside County hospitals increased by five people to 317 in the latest data. Of those patients, 82 were in intensive care, up seven from Sunday.

The aggregate number of COVID cases recorded in the county since the pandemic began in March 2020 rose by 1,193 since Friday, reaching 386,983, according to the Riverside University Health System.

A total of 5,536 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county in the past 21 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back weeks, according to health officials.

The number of known active virus cases countywide was 4,156 on Monday, down 164 from Friday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 386,983 — according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 377,291.

The RUHS does not report COVID data on weekends.
