A magnitude 3.1 earthquake with an epicenter 4.4 miles east-southeast of Hemet struck Wednesday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake was reported at 8:26 p.m. with a depth of about 1.8 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The earthquake was felt in Murrieta, Temecula, Perris, Idyllwild and Wildomar, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake was determined as being a level four quake, which the USGS defines as having moderate shaking with very light damage.

The earthquake is the second to strike Riverside County in as many days. A magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported at 11:39 p.m. Monday, four miles from Palm Springs, according to the USGS.
